Pack 1863 is looking for some help this weekend. With two BIG events this Friday and Saturday, we need some additional support from the Pack Family. Follow the link below to help out!
We don’t know if the school will be open this Friday and Saturday. Since the parking lot had not yet been plowed and there is really no where for anyone to park, we decided at the Committee meeting last night that it would be best to reschedule the Pinewood Derby. This is a big and exciting event and too many obstacle to overcome to get everything setup and running smoothly in a last minute scramble with the weather.
There are back-to-back 3 day weekends coming up. We know many of you like to take advantage of these opportunities with your families. So we decided to hold the Pinewood Derby the weekend of our Blue and Gold Dinner. (Feb 19 & 20). Set up and Registration will coincide with the B&G Dinner that Friday Night. The Race will be at the usual time Saturday morning. We will post a detailed schedule of all the event and times for that weekend. In the meantime, keep finishing those cars! If your kids have already finished their cars, I RECOMMEND putting them away out of sight where they won’t get played with before the race!
Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is pretty typical for our January and February events. We are supposed to get an unusual warm trend at the beginning of February, so enjoy your long weekends!
Due to the forecast for this weekend’s snow storm and probable school closings, we have decided to reschedule this weekend’s Pinewood Derby events for next weekend (Friday 29, Saturday 30). Please Sign up to volunteer. Same times, same location, different days!
Car registration will be on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Derby races will begin promptly at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Doors will open at 9:00 am for any last minutes adjustments or late registrations.
If your son/ kids have NOT started a car, I have kits and can help you with that as well. The race will becoming up quickly, so please take advantage this weekend if you need it!
Please respond to this thread with a quick email if you are coming by. If Sunday will absolutely not work for you, let me know and we will work something out. I want to make sure every kid gets a chance to participate.

Friday, Jan 22 – Pinewood Derby Setup night and Registration
Saturday, Jan 23 – Pinewood Derby Race 10 am – 1 pm

It’s not too late if you would like to sign up to bring a dish! Set up will begin at 5:30 if you are able to volunteer some time.
Holiday Plant Sale orders will be ready for pick up after the party tomorrow night. Please be sure to pick up your son’s order before you leave!
Alright you renegade, if you are doing the Pack 1863 Pinewood Derby and your son wants to build his car at home, here are some IMPORTANT things to remember. Donation Collections
Every Year Pack 1863 is a proud supporter of Scouting for Food. This event happens the first two Saturdays in November. We join other local Packs, Girl Scout Troops and Boy Scout Troops to collect donated food and necessities from our Greenbriar neighbors to help our community.
We meet at GBE. Please sign in when you arrive and join your Den. The first Saturday we will be distributing the flyers, returning to collect donations on the following Saturday. This is a great opportunity for the boys to give back to their larger community and help our neighbors. Pack 1863 Cub Scouts will earn a Community Service Patch for this event.

Our mission is to collect non-perishable food items on behalf of Western Fairfax Christian Ministries Food Pantry (WFCM), which provides assistance to families right here in our community, regardless of religion. The food we collect will fill the food pantry shelves for 5-6 months.
