Pinewood Derby Car Cutting Clinics

workshopThe clinic can take as little as an hour, or you can stay the full session.  It depends on how involved your kids want to get that day.  Plan for about a 2 hour window.  The kids will design, cut and begin sanding their cars and prepare/ polish the axles before they leave.  Each child will leave with their car kit and sand paper to finish the job with you at home.  You will also be given tips on priming and painting the car before race day on January 24th.

Scouting for Food this Saturday!

Scouting for Food is our annual effort to collect food in our Greenbriar neighborhood to donate to the local are food pantry.  We meet at the school on the first Saturday in November at 9 a.m. to distribute bags and flyers throughout the neighborhood.  Then we meet again the next Saturday at the same time to go around and collect the food and sort it before the Boy Scouts deliver it to the food pantry.  This is a Community Service Project for the boys and reinforces our theme of Citizenship for the month of November.  The more participation we have the faster everything gets done!  We will be joined by another local Pack, the Girlscouts, Daisy’s and Boy Scouts.  The first Saturday is usually pretty fast, but both days we are typically finished before lunchtime.  We look forward to seeing you this Saturday at 9 a.m.  DON”T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR SCOUT UNIFORMS!

Our Webelos II worked on their Geology Pin this month. They even learned how to drill stone!
