NCAC is co-hosting a LEGO-based educational play, one-hour workshops with BricksForKidz in which Cub Scouts may earn their NOVA Swing! Award. Cubs will learn all about different simple machines, levers, pulleys, inclined planes, then get to build their own simple machine – a See-Saw.

This workshop fulfills requirements 3, 4, 5a & 5b, and 6 of the Nova Swing! Award for Cubs and Webelos.

Cubs who complete the other requirements in advance may get their Nova Award (patch or pi pin) from the Camp Snyder Trading Post on the same day.

The fee for this workshop is $20. Registration will be forthcoming on November 16, 2014. If you have any questions, please email: stem@ncacbsa.org or call: 240.395.0601

All cubs will build and take home a light-up bricks neckerchief slide! They will also take home STEM cards!

Scouting for Food this Saturday!

Scouting for Food is our annual effort to collect food in our Greenbriar neighborhood to donate to the local are food pantry.  We meet at the school on the first Saturday in November at 9 a.m. to distribute bags and flyers throughout the neighborhood.  Then we meet again the next Saturday at the same time to go around and collect the food and sort it before the Boy Scouts deliver it to the food pantry.  This is a Community Service Project for the boys and reinforces our theme of Citizenship for the month of November.  The more participation we have the faster everything gets done!  We will be joined by another local Pack, the Girlscouts, Daisy’s and Boy Scouts.  The first Saturday is usually pretty fast, but both days we are typically finished before lunchtime.  We look forward to seeing you this Saturday at 9 a.m.  DON”T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR SCOUT UNIFORMS!
