Pinewood Derby Car Cutting Clinics

workshopThe clinic can take as little as an hour, or you can stay the full session.  It depends on how involved your kids want to get that day.  Plan for about a 2 hour window.  The kids will design, cut and begin sanding their cars and prepare/ polish the axles before they leave.  Each child will leave with their car kit and sand paper to finish the job with you at home.  You will also be given tips on priming and painting the car before race day on January 24th.

  1. Nov 1: 1:00pm-6:00p
  2. Nov 2: 1:00pm-6:00pm
  3. Nov 8: 1:00pm-6:00pm
  4. Nov 9: 1:00pm-6:00pm

It’s time to get a head start on this years’ Pinewood Derby!  This event in January is a big hit with all of the kids each year.  It’s a lot of fun and siblings/  parents are welcome to participate in their very own division.    The Car Cutting Clinics will be on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2 from 1:00- 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9 from 1:00- 6:00 p.m.at Cubmaster Stables’ home.

The clinics will help provide your scout with valuable information to make sure his car will meet the Sully District qualification standards.  However, the main purpose is to help the kids get the hands-on experience in designing and building their very own cars.  We will cut our the rough design and teach them how to sand the bodies and axles.  They will later seal, paint and apply the wheels to their cars at home with you.  The clinic should take about an hour, but you are welcome to stay as long as you need.  If you have any questions about the rules, please review them on Pinewood Derby page.
