Hard to believe the school year is about to begin soon!
Please join us on Aug 23 to help GBE put together the BACK TO SCHOOL parent packets! We have approximately 1000 folders that need to be filled. The more helpers we have the smoother this will run! Please consider volunteering your time to make this event a success!
(If in the event you can be there longer or just for a half hour please sign up and put a comment in for the amount of time you will be there!)

The Fair Ridge community, home to many of our scouts and families, has organized a neighborhood community clean up next Saturday, June 3rd, and has asked for Pack 1863’s help. The service project will be begin at 11:00 AM at the clubhouse/pool parking lot,12238 Apple Orchard Court, Fairfax, VA 22033.
The clean up project which will be immediately following the Annual Fair Ridge Family Run/Walk/Bike. Scouts are welcome to participate in the Fun Run event. It is a one mile course and we are escorted by Fairfax County PD. The Fun Run/Walk/Bike starts at 10 AM and Fair Oaks Unit bike patrol will also do a safety demonstration prior starting the walk/bike/run.
The Fair Ridge Recreation Association will supply all materials for the clean up so we will just need scouts, parents and an hour or two of your time. Scouts may wear either their Class A or B uniform. The pool house will open for anyone who may want/need to change from the Fun Run. Please let me know if you have any questions and see you there!
This weekend’s Landscaping project at GBE will have to be postponed unfortunately. We are working with the landscape company and GBE to reschedule in the next few weeks. Sorry for any inconvenience. We will announce the new date as soon as we have it set.
Scouting for Food is a nationwide event and a major source of resupply for the area food banks whose shelves are sparse this time of year. This is a valuable service project for our community and scouts. We need a lot of volunteers tomorrow.
Tomorrow morning will be part two of Scouting for Food. We will meet at GBE at 8:45 to begin collection.
Once scouts return from the neighborhood, we will sort the collected items for the Boy Scouts to load up. There will be some refreshments there for the scouts once they return from collection.
We need boxes! We need many standard sized boxes. I’m talking about paper ream boxes, banker boxes, etc. to sort all the food collected.
Cub Master Pack 1863
We will do our part to kick off our annual Scouting for Food Drive Saturday morning at 9 AM. Please arrive at GBE at 8:45 so we can organize and distribute the bags and flyers. Scouts and their families will be given routes based on their Dens in the morning. This is a SERVICE PROJECT and participating scouts will receive a patch for Scouting for Food 2016!
This first weekend only takes about 1-2 hours (depending on the number of volunteers). Tiger Scouts will be lead by Den leaders and parents who will guide the kids as they do the activity. We will go over additional details in the morning. See you all there!
Don’t forget that our Pack service project is to update the flower beds in front of GBE. Please stop by to lend a hand tomorrow from 1-3pm. This is a rain or shine event because we have a pile of mulch in the GBE parking lot to move!
Bring your tools, gloves and helping hands tomorrow and help us show GBE our appreciation for sponsoring Pack 1863!
It’s our weekend to give back!
Pack 1863 will meet at GBE this Sunday at 1 p.m. to weed, plant and spread mulch for the school. This is a big annual service project for the boys and our way of showing our appreciation to GBE for their support of Pack 1863.
- The school will be closed, so no bathroom access.
- Bring your yard tools! (rakes, spades, etc.)
- Every extra pair of hands helps! The more participation we have during this short service project, the more we can show GBE how much we appreciate their support as our Charter Organization.
