Landscaping Date TBD!

important sm

This weekend’s Landscaping project at GBE will have to rescheduledbe postponed unfortunately. We are working with the landscape company and GBE to reschedule in the next few weeks. Sorry for any inconvenience. We will announce the new date as soon as we have it set.

S4F Collection Day is Here!

Scouting for Food is a nationwide event and a  major source of resupply for the area food banks whose shelves Cub_Scout_Charactersare sparse this time of year. This is a valuable service project for our community and scouts. We need a lot of volunteers tomorrow.

Tomorrow morning will be part two of Scouting for Food. We will meet at GBE at 8:45 to begin collection.

Once scouts return from the neighborhood, we will sort the collected items for the Boy Scouts to load up. There will be some refreshments there for the scouts once they return from collection.

We need boxes! We need many standard sized boxes. I’m talking about paper ream boxes, banker boxes, etc. to sort all the food collected.

Sincerely,

Scott Stables

Scouting For Food Tomorrow

SFFWe will do our part to kick off our annual Scouting for Food Drive Saturday morning at 9 AM. Please arrive at GBE at 8:45 so we can organize and distribute the bags and flyers. Scouts and their families will be given routes based on their Dens in the morning. This is a SERVICE PROJECT and participating scouts will receive a patch for Scouting for Food 2016!

This first weekend only takes about 1-2 hours (depending on the number of volunteers). Tiger Scouts will be lead by Den leaders and parents who will guide the kids as they do the activity. We will go over additional details in the morning. See you all there!

Landscaping Project Tomorrow

Don’t forget that our Pack service project is to update the flower beds in front of GBE. Please stop by to lend a hand tomorrow from 1-3pm. This is a rain or shine event because we have a pile of mulch in the GBE parking lot to move!

Bring your tools, gloves and helping hands tomorrow and help us show GBE our appreciation for sponsoring Pack 1863!

Pack 1863 will meet at GBE this Sunday at 1 p.m. to weed, plant and spread mulch for the school.  This is a big annual service project for the boys and our way of showing our appreciation to GBE for their support of Pack 1863.

Reminders:garden-tools-500x500

  • The school will be closed, so no bathroom access.
  • Bring your yard tools! (rakes, spades, etc.)
  • Every extra pair of hands helps! The more participation we have during this short service project, the more we can show GBE how much we appreciate their support as our Charter Organization.

Scouting for Food a Huge Success!

SFF

Great job today everyone! I was a little cold this morning, but once got out in the neighborhood we really did a good turn for our community. We had 43 adults and 63 scouts/ youths participate in Scouting for Food this year. Today we collected an estimated 4186 lbs of food for our area Food Bank. Giving back to our community is an important part of all Scouting. So job well done!

Every Year Pack 1863 is a proud supporter of Scouting for Food.  This event happens the first two Saturdays in November.  We join other local Packs, Girl Scout Troops and Boy Scout Troops to collect donated food and necessities from our Greenbriar neighbors to help our community.   We meet at GBE at 9:00 a.m. sharp!   Please sign in when you arrive and join your Den. The first Saturday we will be distributing the flyers and plastic bags, returning to collect donations on the following Saturday.  This is a great opportunity for the boys to give back to their larger community and help our neighbors. Pack 1863 Cub Scouts will earn a Community Service Patch for this event.
