Pack Meeting this Tuesday at 7 P.M.
We will have our October Pack Meeting this Tuesday (Oct. 6).
The theme for October is Brave– Super cubs! A Scout Is Brave—How Does “Super Cub!” Relate to This Point of the Scout Law?
Superheroes are known for facing danger even when they are afraid. A Scout, like a superhero, has the courage to stand for what he thinks is right even if others laugh at him or threaten him.
- We will continue Registration for the 2015- 2016 scouting year ($85 per scout). If you have not yet gotten your cub scout uniform, the Scout Store will be at our Pack Meeting! with uniforms and patches available for purchase. They were generous enough to plan to come out to our meeting this year to help parents avoid the drive out to the store in Springfield.
- We will have sign-ups for the Fall Family Camp Out- Oct 17-18. You can pay the fee at the Pack Meeting as well ($10 per person, max $50 per family). This helps us get an advanced head count and the funds in place to purchase the food and supplies needed for the camp out. This is a fun and easy opportunity to introduce kids to camping. We have a lot of first timers out there each year. The kids have a great time and the parents get time to socialize. It is not required that you spend the night, although highly recommended! Just come out and have fun with the kids!
- We will discuss Scouting for Food and the Pinewood Derby Car Cutting Clinics coming up in early November.
Pack Meeting Activities:
- How to set up a tent for camping (with help from the Webelos)
- The Smoke Ring Vortex Cannon! Knocking down paper cups with a ring of smoke.
JSN Tuesday @7 pm
This Tuesday at 7 p.m. we will have our Join Scouting Night. We will have a ceremony to hand out awards for the boys’ summer camp achievements. Afterwards, the kids will go down to the gym with some of the leaders and parents to play some games together. The rest of the parents will remain in the cafeteria to get info about the Pack and our upcoming scouting year. We will go over a few things that are coming up soon, such as the Fall Family Camp Out and Scouting for Food and answer any questions. There will be tables set up in the back for Registration and for the Cub Closet in case you need to look for any uniform pieces.
If you are a veteran with the Pack, come celebrate the awards with the boys and register before you go. We will have our first “normal” Pack Meting October 6th.
Last Pack Meeting of the Year!
Can you believe it? Tonight will be our last Pack Meeting of the Year! Parents please join us in celebrating the Scouts’ achievements tonight. We will give out final awards and then have a little party afterwards. We will have the upcoming events for the summer, but tonight is all about FUN!
See you all there!
April Pack Meeting Tonight!
Don’t forget tonight is our April pack meeting at 7 PM. See you there!
April’s theme is Cheerful.
Find ways to celebrate your family’s accomplishments and talk with them about how a positive attitude can make a difference!
Pack Meeting and AOL Ceremony tonight!!
We have our March Pack Meeting tonight. The boys have a lot of awards to catch up on due to all the weather interruptions this winter. Should FCPS cancel evening activities tonight, we will reschedule our meeting for this Friday at 7 p.m. Once we have handed out awards to the Cub Scouts, the meeting will be turned over to the Webelos II group for their Arrow of Light Ceremony. This is the final award that they will earn with us as members of Pack 1863. They will then do a Crossing Over Ceremony, where each Scout will officially leave Pack 1863 and join a new Boy Scout Troop.
Please join us in congratulating the Webelos II Scouts and their families on this tremendous accomplishment in their young lives. We wish them the best in all of their future adventures.
NOTICE: No Pack Meeting tonight!
FCPS has cancelled all evening activities, so we will NOT have our January Pack Meeting tonight.
November Pack Meeting
The Core Value for November is Citizenship. Pack 1863 demonstrates citizenship this month through our participation in Scouting for Food and our recognition of our friends and family and all those who serve on Veterans Day.
