Blue & Gold/ Arrow of Light Ceremony Friday Night

BlueAndGoldOur annual Blue and Gold event will be this Friday night (March 10). This is the Cub Scouts “birthday party” and annual celebration of Cub Scouts. This year we will also be hosting our Arrow of Light and Crossing Over Ceremonies the same night. These ceremonies will recognize our 5th grade Webelo II scouts and celebrate their experience and hard work in the Cub Scouts. They can then do a Crossing Over ceremony which symbolizes their promotion from Cub Scouts and the beginning of their adventures as Boy Scouts. Please join us in celebrating Cub Scouts and our Webelos. Thank you to the parents who have supported the boys and the pack throughout their journey!

Congratulations Webelo II scouts! Pack 1863 wishes you a fun and exciting adventure wherever it takes you!

Pack Meeting Tonight

cropped-cropped-banner-jpg1.jpg

We have our January Pack Meeting Tuesday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at GBE.

 IMG_4030.JPGJanuary Theme —Obedient

A Scout Is Obedient. How Does “Cub Scout City Council” Relate to This Point of the Scout Law? A Cub Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and pack. He obeys the laws of his community and country. At this pack meeting we will have a mayor, council members, and lots of commendations for the great work that each Cub Scout has done this month.

Cubmaster’s Minute

This month you have had great adventures, but you have also learned about always doing your best and obeying the Scout Law. Rules and laws are important. Following the rules and laws help make our community a better place to live because there is order. I challenge each of you to do your best each day to make your community better by obeying not only the rules and laws of your home, school, and community, but by following the Scout Law each and every day. Remember, a Scout is obedient.

S4F Collection Day is Here!

Scouting for Food is a nationwide event and a  major source of resupply for the area food banks whose shelves Cub_Scout_Charactersare sparse this time of year. This is a valuable service project for our community and scouts. We need a lot of volunteers tomorrow.

scoutingforfood

Tomorrow morning will be part two of Scouting for Food. We will meet at GBE at 8:45 to begin collection.

Once scouts return from the neighborhood, we will sort the collected items for the Boy Scouts to load up. There will be some refreshments there for the scouts once they return from collection.

We need boxes! We need many standard sized boxes. I’m talking about paper ream boxes, banker boxes, etc. to sort all the food collected.

Sincerely,

Scott Stables

Pack Meeting Tonight at 7 p.m.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! Our November Pack Meeting will be tonight at 7 p.m. at GBE. Our November theme is COURTEOUS- Cubs in Shining Armor.

A Scout Is Courteous. How Does “Cubs in Shining Armor” Relate to This Point of the Scout Cub_Scout_CharactersLaw? A Scout knows good manners make it easier for people to get along together. The word “courteous” is an old English word that comes from the time of knights. Many associate chivalry and graciousness with a knight in shining armor because of their code of conduct. The knight’s code of conduct extols these virtues, ensuring that a Cub Scout in shining armor will exhibit courtesy to all.

Scouting for Food November 5 and November 12.

scoutingforfoodOur annual Scouting for Food drive will be the next two Saturdays. We will meet in front of GBE at 9 a.m. each Saturday. Need more info?

Pinewood Derby Car Cutting Clinics

Sunday Nov 6, Saturday Nov 12, Sunday Nov 13 – 1:30-5:30 each day. You will need 1-2 hours at a clinic. Sign up here (add each participants name on this google docs sheet) It gets really busy, I need parents that would like to volunteer for a station. It is pretty easy and I can train you in a few minutes!

pinewood_derby_logoEach year the cub scouts, their siblings (parents too) and some of our local Girl Scouts are invited to our Pinewood Derby Car Cutting Clinic sessions. These sessions are designed to teach the kids about some of the tools used, safety and to provide tips on design and construction of their cars for the big race (January). We get an early start so that everyone get get their car started before the weather around the shop turn cold. You will get some of the rough work done at the clinic and then take your car home to complete the sanding and painting.
