Friends of Scouting
Parents:
On March 9, we will be participating in the annual Friends of Scouting campaign. This is a very important part of our commitment to Scouting because it helps support all the great things Scouting provides to our youth. A scouting volunteer representative will be here to explain the importance of the program and collect donation pledges. Each unit is asked to help carry a little bit of the load and many participants make light work. We understand family budgets vary but ask that you invest in our youth as much as is comfortable. The attached brochure has some suggested levels and explains more about the program and its importance.
So why is your donation important? Friends of Scouting is the second largest source of funds for our local council programs. If we fall short, our programs and camps are left without the resources to keep them well maintained and our programs strong. There is no “someone else” to take care of this. Consider this: For more than 100 years, families before ours gave their time and resources to Scouting and the program we enjoy today is available because they did. Let’s make sure that the new Cubs and Scouts have great Scout camps to go to. Let’s make sure that the families yet to come have the opportunities our youth have.
I am asking you to join us by making your pledge to keeping Scouting well-funded and strong. The attached PDF pledge card can be mailed back, or parents can use the NCAC online pledge system:
Important – if you use the online system, please send a copy of their receipt to me and the SullyDistBSA.FOS@gmail.com so that we can record your pledge and arrange the recognition items appropriate.

- Kids should not be leaving the sidewalks to go into the streets or crossover without supervision.
- Stay with kids when they need to wait for a neighbor to go inside and gather collections.
- Do NOT let them go inside of people’s homes. If they have an emergency, please have an adult from our group supervise them.
- We need 1 Driver for each Den/ Group to drive the routes and act as a mobile collection point. Please see me at arrival if you would like to volunteer.

A Scout is Reverent
CUBS GIVE THANKS
A SCOUT IS REVERENT. HOW DOES “CUBS GIVE THANKS” RELATE TO THIS POINT OF THE SCOUT LAW?
During this time of the year, we give thanks for the bounty we have received. Giving thanks is an expression of our inner strength and confidence based on our trust in a higher power.
Our Pack meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2nd.
Scouting For Food
November 4- Bag and Flyer Hand Outs in the Neighborhood.

November 11- Donation Collections
(meet at GBE at 8:45 a.m.)
Every Year Pack 1863 is a proud supporter of Scouting for Food. This event happens the first two Saturdays in November. We join other local Packs, Girl Scout Troops and Boy Scout Troops to collect donated food and necessities from our Greenbriar neighbors to help our community. We meet at GBE at 9:00 a.m. sharp! Please sign in when you arrive and join your Den. The first Saturday we will be distributing the flyers and plastic bags, returning to collect donations on the following Saturday. This is a great opportunity for the boys to give back to their larger community and help our neighbors. Pack 1863 Cub Scouts will earn a Community Service Patch for this event.
